“Sally”

Sally was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Her mother had a history of serious mental instability and her father was a biker and career criminal. Sally’s uncle started sexually assaulting her when she was four years old. Sally has two brothers, the younger of which killed their father. She tells of going through the white pages of the phone directory as a small child calling everyone in it with her last name. She would say to them that she had been adopted and she was looking for her real parents. Could they possibly be her folks?

When Sally was 12 years old she went to live with her stepmother in Bakersfield. They hitchhiked together to Salt Lake City where her stepmother sold her to a man who owned a club and a massage parlor. Sally worked for him as a dancer and a masseuse until she was 18 years of age, when she stole $10,000 from her “owner” and returned to California. By now she was heavily involved in drug abuse and prostitution and the money was gone in no time.

She once again became involved sexually with her uncle and became pregnant. The child died three days after he was born of complications commonly associated with intra-familial breeding. Following the death of her child, Sally became even more heavily involved in drugs and prostitution and other petty crimes in California and Oregon.

Today, Sally struggles with deep, unresolved grief, serious mental illness, the vestiges of incest, and acute medical issues including advanced heart disease. She has been sober for two years and hopes to become a pet groomer.
