Words From The Heart

...Of a Mary Magdalene Project Resident.

"I am a graduate of the MMP, Class of 1990, and I am a current resident of the MMP Transitional Living Center.

What can I say? It's been a little over two years since I've moved into the apartments...with no refrigerator, no gas, no phone, and no idea what was about to happen next. It was kinda difficult for some of us who had been on "our own" for awhile, to move back into a structured environment again, not to mention having to deal with adversity and diversity, frustration and aggravation, in the- midst of the multi-personalities that were thrown together. But, we've made a community today. We are bound together by a common thread... the Mary Magdalene Project.

We have been able to overcome obstacles together: lost jobs, new jobs, broken cars, new cars, furniture moves, gardening, parenting, parties, and the like. I can't but we have.

My sisters and I have come a long way in a short time. It really does take a village to raise a child, and it also takes a village to raise a woman out of the darkness of the night and her dysfunctional past. And, with that said... On behalf of the women past, present, and future, we thank the village that has been there for guidance and strength, pitfalls and praise, and, last, but not least, a way of living we would have never known without you. Thanks."
